چکیده

This paper presents a scheme for strong self-focusing of laser beam interacting with cone-guided fast-ignition inertial confinement fusion target using cone pre-plasma filling as an optical medium reducing the waist. The objective is to reduce focal spot size at interior tip re-entrant that required efficient coupling dense imploded fuel core. challenging achieve in large system standard components chirped-pulse-amplified (CPA) laser-beam chain where sizes produced are often significantly larger than would be desirable fast ignition. approach described also makes use presence cone. Such difficult avoid entirely when illuminating high-energy CPA due challenges pre-pulse below threshold plasma production. For deriving differential equation which governs progress beam-width propagation distance, paraxial theory WKB approximation has been used. A simulation performed assuming accordance parameters and density profile chosen.

LLE Review, Volume 134 127 Introduction The cone-guided scheme for fast-ignition inertial confinement fusion (ICF)1,2 provides the potential of higher gains at lower total driver energy than conventional central hot-spot–ignition schemes. Role of Hydrogen Fractionation in ICF Ignition Target Designs

LLE Review, Volume 105 35 Introduction The need of using cryogenic hydrogenic fuels in inertial confinement fusion (ICF) ignition targets has been well established. Efficient implosion of such targets has mandated keeping the adiabat of the main fuel layer at low levels to ensure drive energies are kept at a reasonable minimum. In fact, it has been shown by many authors that the minimum drive e...

محاسبه بهره همجوشی اشتعال سریع با حضور میدان مغناطیسی توسط الکترون‌های نسبیتی و باریکه‌های پروتون

Fast ignition is a new method for inertial confinement fusion (ICF) in which the compression and ignition steps are separated. In the first stage, fuel is compressed by laser or ion beams. In the second phase, relativistic electrons are generated by pettawat laser in the fuel. Also, in the second phase 5-35 MeV protons can be generated in the fuel. Electrons or protons can penetrate in to the u...

بررسی بهره همجوشی اشتعال سریع با هدف‌های مخروطی

Fast ignition is a new scheme for inertial confinement fusion (ICF). In this scheme, at first the interaction of ultraintense laser beam with the hohlraum wall surrounding a capsule containing deuterium-tritium (D-T) fuel causes implosion and compression of fuel to high density and then laser produced protons penetrate in the compressed fuel and deposit their energy in it as the ignition hot sp...

The Effect of Resonance Absorption in OMEGA Direct-Drive Designs and Experiments

LLE Review, Volume 111 179 Introduction Ignition of thermonuclear fuel (DT mixture) requires a fuel areal density L0.3 g/cm2 and a hot-spot temperature L10 keV (Refs. 1 and 2). Such conditions are predicted to be achieved in direct-drive inertial confinement fusion (ICF) designs, in which a cryogenic spherical DT-ice-shell target is imploded using direct illumination by intense laser beams.3–7 ...
